Industrial & Construction Recycling and Hauling. About Us.

Company History: In April of 1991 Troy Lautenbach, an unemployed, broke college graduate, looked into an idea generated by his uncles, Darryl and Ed VanderHaak. The concept? Turning scrap sheetrock into bedding for dairy cattle. After extensive research, Troy rented his uncle's pickup truck and started collecting scrap sheetrock. T & T Recovery was born. Troy's first purchase was a dump trailer, followed by a used pickup truck. Troy collected scrap sheetrock for the next three years. The T & T fleet grew, as Troy bought his first roll-off truck in 1994, followed by a Dodge One-Ton pickup. Soon Troy was recycling wood in Whatcom County. Eventually, Troy began recycling industrial food processing organics and also became a Demolition Contractor. In 1999, Troy realized that he needed larger equipment and trucks. He approached his brother, Torrey, and together they started Lauts, Inc., with their Dad's Peterbilt, which they fitted with a Stellar hook-lift. With two families to feed and lots of new overhead, the brothers-and now partners-survived the winter and began aggressively expanding their businesses. They started to haul co-mingled construction debris to a processor for recycling. When Skagit County suggested they relocate their company from their Dad's farm, they moved to their current location in the Concrete NorWest Samish Pit on Highway 99, North of Burlington, Washington. Today, Lautenbach Industries has over ten employees, six roll-off trucks, two live floor trailers with tractors, two excavators, a backhoe, a front-end loader, a tub grinder, and various other pieces of equipment. In 2003, Dave Bader, John VanKursenstern and Troy Lautenbach started Bellingham's first curbside yard waste collection company, City Organics LLC. Today they have one recycled garbage truck collecting yardwaste from hundreds of customers in Bellingham. 2005 Washington State Recycling Association's Small Business Recycler of the Year.
